When I last interviewed Wax over a year ago, two things were apparent: he really does live the scrublife — pizza boxes & beer cans everywhere — and he is on his grind, day and night, writing and recording music and fan videos — his youtube page has over 2 million views and over 180,000 subscribers.

Distant Relatives Tour ft. Nneka

There are moments when you realize that the music you are hearing and the people who are performing it are coming from somewhere far older than their individual lives might suggest. When the studio production, concert speakers and lighting effects fall away and the spirit of humanity shines through. Coming from a lineage of teaching, passion, leadership and artistry, these are the voices of our ancestors.

The world tour of Nas and Damien Marley’s Distant Relatives and Nneka’s Concrete Jungle are one of these moments.
